This prestigious study evaluates the number of problems new car owners experience within the first 90 days of ownership, offering a clear measure of initial quality and reliability. RAM’s placement at the top of this list is particularly impressive as it is the only truck-exclusive brand to have ever achieved this honor.

The 2024 study revealed that RAM outperformed other mass-market brands, with Chevrolet and Hyundai ranking second and third, respectively. This marks the fourth time in five years that RAM has been among the top three brands in the industry and the second time it has secured the overall number-one position. The RAM 1500, in particular, stood out by being named the best Full-size Light-Duty Pickup for the second consecutive year, while the RAM 2500/3500 earned third place among Heavy-Duty Pickups​.

One key insight from the study is that gas-and diesel-powered vehicles exhibited fewer problems than battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) and premium-brand vehicles. The complexity of advanced connectivity technologies in BEVs often leads to higher problem rates. This year’s survey highlighted that owners of BEVs and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) reported issues severe enough to require dealership visits at a rate three times higher than that of gas-powered vehicle owners​.
